Awesome Adventures

Alaska is a wonderful destination to visit with family. Spend 3-5 days on land visiting places like Denali National Park, Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Ghost Forest before boarding your cruise ship which may include calls to ports like Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, and Sitka with family-friendly excursions like dogsledding, helicopter flightseeing, hiking over glaciers, and canoeing and kayaking the fjords. Plus, it’s not uncommon to see whales, bears and moose; both kids and adults will learn plenty from the on-board naturalists who explains the region’s rich natural habitat chock full of animal and marine life.

Colorado Dude Ranches
A dude ranch experience is a different kind of wonderful. Grand County, Colorado, located 67 miles west of Denver, is home to wide-open spaces, breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery, and authentic Old-West towns. The area features more than 600 miles of trails and four world-class dude ranches that are all-inclusive, so no need to worry about finding the right restaurants. Plus, you don’t need to rent a car (just take a shuttle transfer from the Denver airport), since you’ll be on the property for the week. Special kid-friendly programs are available for the junior cowboys-in-training.

Big City Fun

Washington D.C.
If you’re planning to hit this bucket-list destination in 2017, try to plan it over July 4th, which our nation’s capital naturally takes very seriously. Families can revel in the traditional festivities starting with the morning parade (classic high school marching bands, Uncle Sam on stilts, beauty queens in convertible cars); an afternoon that includes getting up-close with the Constitution at the National Archives; an early evening concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol with the National Symphony Orchestra and a smattering of pop stars and actors, followed by an elaborate firework display over the monuments, their colors mirrored by the Reflecting Pools. The best part? It’s all free!  Avenue Suites Georgetown, Hampton Inn Washington DC, Courtyard Washington Embassy Row and the Hotel Rouge by Kimpton are all great choices!

If you’re looking for a big city with plenty to see and do, this Midwestern gem fits the bill. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Windy City is chock-full of family activities including an architectural boat tour on the famed Chicago River, an amazing children’s museum on the kid-friendly Navy Pier, and open-air concerts in Millennium Park next to the much-photographed Chicago Bean. When you get hungry—who doesn’t love the famous Chicago-style pizza at Giordano's or sampling the Grade-A beef the Midwest is known for at Weber Grill? Get the Chicago CityPASS to see a lot of iconic sights at a heavily-discounted rate!  Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile, Omni Chicago Hotel and Hotel Palomar Chicago all offer great accommodations for families.

Celebrating its 375th Anniversary in 2017, this European-feel city will be hosting over 175 events throughout the year. The summer is a great time to visit since there are so many festivals including the legendary Montreal Jazz Fest, Osheaga Music Festival, and Montreal Cirque festival. Head to the Festival des Arts de la Rue to take part in the largest street theater event ever held in North America. It boasts over sixty street theater companies and over 800 performances—something both kids and adults will enjoy!  Le Saint-Sulpice and Hotel Bonaparte are great options for family.
